TAMASHA ON HOPE STREET

A preview reading of the first act of Rajesh Gopie’s new play, Tamasha on Hope Street will be on the programme of the popular Mondays at Six at St Clement’s on May 21.

Tamasha on Hope Street takes place post-xenophobic attacks in parts of South Africa during 2008/9.

Albert, a Zimbabwean, is on the run after the attacks. He ends up in Chatsworth and gets a job as a nightwatchman. His escape to safety seems fulfilled until he discovers Payal Payal, a young street prostitute. The lives of Albert and Payal collide with dramatic repercussions.

St Clements is situated at 191 Musgrave Road on the right-hand side a short way down Musgrave after the St Thomas Road intersection. Mondays at Six run between 18h00 and 19h00. Booking is advised on 031 202 2511. There is no cover charge but there is a donations box to support presenters.
