(The poster for the launch on June 14)Recently opened at the Imbizo Gallery in Ballito is an exhibition titled Life Force which represents an absorbing mix of sculpture and art.
Isabel Roos, Imbizo curator and owner, has gathered together seven specific artists for an intriguing joint exhibition showing their vastly different styles and skills. Artists exhibiting include Marke Meyer, Izidro Duarte, Carl Roberts, Anton Smit, Carol Hayward Fell, Wendy von Varendorff and Sarah Richards. Along with their three dimensional works, some of the sculptors are also showing photography, silk screens and paintings.
The theme Life Force” is strongly evident in all the works. “What is so interesting to me is that all the pieces the seven artists have submitted have a deep kind of strength, dignity and spirit to live, move and survive,” says Roos.”There is an incredible force and survival mode in all of us and it is interesting to see the artists take on this theme.”
