(“On the Back of a Bakkie II” (2007) by Louise Hall)
KZN artist Louise Hall opens her travelling solo exhibition at the KZNSA Gallery on June 19.
Through a series of figurative images reflecting change, transition and impermanence, the exhibition explores the medium of drawing and its relationship to painting. In Fine Lines, Hall grapples with images of transformation and journeying. Within the local and global context of climate change, economic uncertainty and political fracturing Hall's work is in many ways her attempt to come to terms with some of these challenges on a personal level.
This body of work forms part of Hall's practice-led Doctorate - one of the first in South Africa - at the Centre for Visual Arts, University of KwaZulu-Natal, Pietermaritzburg.
Fine Lines runs at the KZNSA from June 19 to July 8, with Professor Juliet Armstrong officially opening the exhibition at 18h00 on June 19. All are welcome. The KZNSA Gallery is situated at 166 Bulwer Road, Glenwood, in Durban. More information on 031 277 1703, fax 031 201 8051 or 082 220 0368 or visit www.kznsagallery.co.za
