DURBAN INTERNATIONAL BLUES FESTIVAL

The end of September in Durban has long become synonymous with the ever popular Durban International Blues Festival, and this year, with a slight shift in the dates to accommodate the school holiday period, the growing event takes place from October 2 to 7, still at Wilson’s Wharf, Durban.

Now in its 8th successful year, the festival will play host to a number of well-known and carefully selected bands and musicians including The Reals, Swart Piet, East Coast Blues Band, the Tim Wells Blues Band, Shiela de Blue Note, and the fabulously popular Albert Frost from Cape Town with fellow Capetonian’s Natasha Meister and the Boulevard Blues.

This year also sees the return of  the popular Baret Blues, whilst new additions include the young band Customized and The DHS Band (Durban Boys High School) and many more and the cherry on top is the ever fabulous blues master from  the USA –Jimmy D Lane. Watch the press and the website for added programme information.

In addition, there will be music workshops held through the week, where education on the blues as a genre will be focused on and delivered by the likes of Programme Director Will Wallace and Festival Director Themi Venturas and other knowledgeable parties. Visit the website for more information.

“A great line up of some of South Africa’s best blues artists make up the programme and include the likes of many more,” says Publicity Director Tanya van Agthoven Marais .
