Running until Sunday (September 16), the sixth annual Glenwood Festival offers a busy weekend of music, civic, sports, family, food, art and spiritual events.
The Friday evening (September 4 at 18h00) will once again see the much awaited Glenwood Community Proms. Traditionally held at a delightful venue at Glenwood Prep School, the Durban City Orchestra under the baton of Russell Scott with soloists Lauren Laing and Sanele Sibiya, will present a musical feast for the whole family. Tickets R65 on sale at Glenwood Prep School. Bring picnic baskets, camp chairs and blankets.
The School Art Display, on at the Davenport Shopping Centre, will showcase the local schools’ art talent with over 100 pieces on show. At Glenwood Prep, there’s Artists in Action as well as the Camelot College Craft Market.
Saturday has lots of sports and fun events for young people. There will also be special performances by the Durban Girls’ High School Drummies and Glenwood High School Band.
The Food Lover’s Market on Sunday morning takes place near Windsor Park Tennis Club and stall holders will be selling unique types of food, from specialist gourmet meats, olives, breads and lots of special dishes.
