The Mwimbi Fine Art Gallery is to host the Conversations’
Art Conference Durban 2012.
The conference aims to spark an ongoing
conversation between researchers, artists and Galleries. A host of speakers
such as Art historians, Artists, and Curators will present papers surrounding
the issues local artists and researchers are faced with today. In addition, the
conference will also focus on how local networks are developed - not just among
artists but with international studios, museums and curators.
Print maker Sharon Sanders McClelland, who
recently started a Printing Press will speak on her studio set-up in Durban,
while Jess Draper, who is currently pursuing a PhD program at Oxford University
will present her research focus on Race
and Authenticity in South Africa.
The conference will take place on October
20 from 12h00 to 16h00 at the Collective, Durban. Registration fee: R30 and deadline
for registration is October 18. For more information email: layla@mwimbifineart.com
