Every year the Rising Star Performing Arts
Academy offers bursaries to talented children. The bursary covers a year's
tuition attending weekly performing arts classes.
Applications for bursaries open from October
1 to 30 each year for the following academic year. Only applications received
during the stipulated time will be accepted; early or late applications will
not be considered.
Application requirements include a written
application by the candidate or candidates parent, depending on age, motivating
why should be receive a bursary. Further requirements are a recent colour photo
of the applicant and a performance/theatre resume. The applicant will be asked to
perform a short performance piece at the point of audition. Whether poetry,
prose or monologue - this must be memorised.
Once all of the above is received, short
listed candidates will be contacted and asked to attend an audition - only one
audition date will be given. If the candidate cannot attend or missed the set
date no other dates will be added.
A full list of T&Cs will be supplied
prior to the audition and these must be accepted before the interview can
commence. Once the interview process is completed, candidates will be notified
early January if their bursary submission was successful.
Parents are not allowed to watch the
audition but must sit in during the interview process and agree to the
academy's terms and conditions in full. The director's decision is final. A maximum
of 10 bursaries will be available for the 2013 academic year.
