FOTAG’s Fabulous Picture Show features small
works (A4 or A5) in various media donated by artists as part of FOTAG’s
fundraising initiative. The exhibition opens on November 25 at 10h00. Tea will
be served between 10h00 and 11h30. To allow interested bidders to place offer
on artworks, the Gallery will be open to the public from November 26.
The auction
will take place on November 30 from 18h00. The auction is largely silent with
bids being placed on the wall next to the artworks, but should a bid reach R1,000,
the bidding is opened up to the floor in order to give all interested parties a
fair chance to purchase. When the bidding closes, the highest bidder on any
particular artwork will be the successful purchaser. Artworks are paid for on
the night and taken away.
This annual
fundraising event offers a fun and exciting opportunity to acquire a little
gem, often for a modest sum. Safe parking with car guard available on the Church street side of the
Gallery. The Tatham Art Gallery is situated opposite
the Town Hall in Chief Albert Luthuli Street, Pietermaritzburg.
