BREAK-THRU GRADUATE PROGRAMME 2013

Break-Thru Dance Company is looking for dedicated, passionate and versatile young dancers for BTDC's Graduate programme, 2013.

“This year we have expanded our programme's classes and our focus is on the Ballet and Contemporary technique, with additional classes of Yoga, Body conditioning, Afro-fusion and Ballet and Contemporary Repertoire (International works),” says Break-Thru’s founder and artistic director, Taryn Makaab.

BTDC will bring in guest choreographers, as well as guest teachers throughout the year, so that the pupils get a wide range of experience from many different genres of teaching styles.

The graduate students will also be able to participate in corporate events and productions with Break-Thru’s Free-Lance Dance Company, so that they may experience more of the professional world and how it works in and around Durban.

“Our mission is to grow our young dancers into a versatile generation, that is ready for the big world. To build on passion and eliminate any weakness they have, so that they can 'Break Thru" barriers they have in life,” adds Taryn Makaab.

The auditions are open to male and female dancers aged 14 to 23 and will take place on January 14 at the Greyville Presbyterian Church (off Windermere and Bishop Road) from 16h00 to 18h30. Dress code is black leotards and footless black tights. Ballet pumps and pointe shoes (optional).

The audition class will consist of a Ballet and Contemporary class and the students that get through will be required to learn a solo piece by BTDC's resident choreographer.
