Good news for lovers of Dixie, Swing and good old jazz tunes
is that Platform Jazz will be back at the Rhumbelow Theatre for the last two
weekends in January. This time the featured vocalist is Durban's sultry Shelley
"Nightingale" McLean.
The band promises a varied programme which will include favourites like Honeysuckle Rose , Tiger
Rag, I've Got you under My Skin, In the Mood, Pennsylvania 6500, Take 5, Almost
Like being in Love, and L.O.V.E,
to name a few. One of the highlights of the show is Hey, Big Spender where Shelley interacts with Duncan and his red
trombone!
The musos include Cathy "Hotlips" Peacock on
trumpet; Ian "lightning fingers" Holloway on clarinet; Dunc "the
Hunk" Wooldridge on trombone; the honourable Jono Judge on sax; Melvin “The
Keys" Peters on keyboard; "Bashful" Bruce Baker on drums, and
Andreas "Bullfiddel" Kappen on double Bass.
Bring picnic baskets. Braais will be available for those who
wish to cook meat. No alcohol may be brought onto the premises as there is a full
cash bar. There is limited secure parking available and the venue opens 90
minutes before show for picnic dinner.
