The Friends of Music will hold their next recital on February 19.

The impressive line-up of performers features Boris Kerimov (cello), Elena Kerimova (1st violin), Emi Fukuda (2nd violin), David Snaith (viola), Liezl-Maret Jacobs (piano) and Ian Holloway (clarinet).

Boris Kerimov is well known to Durban music audiences and presents a seldom-heard programme, a combination of string quartet and piano, which makes a singularly powerful ensemble as it joins two self-sufficient forces in a grand partnership.

The programme includes Brahms’ Piano Quintet in F, Opus 34; Shostakovich’s Piano Quintet in G, Opus 57, and the Overture on Hebrew Themes for Clarinet and String Quartet and piano – Opus 34 by Prokofiev.

The Prelude Performer will be clarinettist Wesley Lewis who has a Diploma in Clarinet performance from UKZN Howard College. Accompanied by Jaques Heyns he will perform Franz V Kromme’s 2nd & 3rd movement Op. 36.

The recital takes place at 19h45 on February 19 at the Durban Jewish Centre, 44 Old Fort (K.E. Masinga) Road, Durban. Tickets R70 (R60 FOM members, R20 Orchestral/Students). There is safe parking. Booking is at Computicket.
