The South African Film and Television
Academy Awards (SAFTAs) will be broadcast exclusively on SABC3 tonight (March 16)
at 19h30.
The glitzy SAFTA’s ceremony, which will
take place at Gallagher Estate, can now be viewed by millions of SABC3 viewers
including all the winner’s announcements and the latest happening from the red
carpet. Viewers can also enjoy a sneak peek of the red carpet, that will cover
the ‘fashionista’s’ and fashion faux’s as well as interviews with their
favourite television personalities and movie stars.
Said Risuna Mayimele, Marketing Manager of
SABC3: ‘We are proud to have secured the live broadcast for the SAFTA’s 2013.
The ceremony is a testament to what our channel represents – a celebration of
quality local programs and viewing. Airing this show allows our national
audience to celebrate our own talent and also gives our viewers at home a front
row ticket to the stars.
SABC received no less than 63 nominations
across the different genres for this year’s much anticipated awards. SABC3’s The Dr Mol received two nominations in
the categories; Best Factual/Educational/Entertainment as well as Best Magazine
Programme. I am Woman also received
two nominations for Best Talk Show and the Best Magazine programme.
SABC3’s flagship daily soap, Isidingo (airs Monday – Friday at 19h30)
has been nominated for the Best TV Soapie Award - the only category voted for
by the public.
