Izwi – The Voice Youth Movement is a
vibrant youth initiative focusing on using art as a medium of communicating on
historical issues and current issues affecting communities, especial youth. The
youth of Mpophomeni just outside Howick came
together to initiate such a movement with the aim of giving the youth a voice
and using art as a strategy in sharing ideas, by utilizing individuals and
groups’ artistic talents to educate and raise awareness on social issues.
The official launch of Izei will take place
on March 22 and will serve to present the idea of the movement to the
community, especially the youth who are direct beneficiaries of the programme.
A further aim is to communicate the idea with stakeholders and possible
partners, for the strengthening of the movement towards its sustainability.
Izwi aims to discover and celebrate talents
that are possessed by the township and surrounding youth. It will outline and
initiate the programme of action that was prepared by the movement as the
strategy to fulfil its mandate.
The launch will take place today (March 22)
at 10h00 in the Mpophomeni Community Hall. More information about the
