Durban Art Gallery offers The Business of Art at DAG: A Hands-on
Course to Develop Skills to Enter the Art World.
The Durban Art Gallery will run a four-session
course focusing on skills development and professional practice for emerging
artists. The course will focus on artists taking their work into the public sphere
in a professional manner.
These hands-on practical sessions will not
only enable the artists to develop the necessary skills to market themselves
and their work, but will also allow a guided artist-in-residence programme
set-up. Participants will conceptualize, produce, curate the space and plan an
exhibition. They will also take away comprehensive course packs consisting of
skills on:
Introducing and presenting yourself
Presenting your work
Funding
Where and how to exhibit
Marketing the work
Arranging exhibition launch
And the exhibition
The
course runs from April 16 to 19 from 09h00 to 13h00 at the Durban Art Gallery.
