(Fiona
Tozer & Ant Cawthorn-Blazeby)
Bluestockings in Kloof will present A Songwriter's Odyssey featuring Fiona
Tozer and Ant Cawthorn-Blazeby tomorrow night.
Experience the music from a songwriter's
perspective. Join singer-songwriter Fiona Tozer in an evening of music and
exploration, an odyssey through the experience of the songwriting process,
reflecting on her motivation, musical development and use of techniques, and
playing some of her songs as examples. She will be accompanied on the journey
by friend and legendary fiddler Anton Cawthorn-Blazeby.
Fiona Tozer started her musical career as a
self-taught singer and guitarist. She has travelled widely, performing with
musicians from all over the world and developing a unique personal style of
songwriting. Her songs vary from contemporary folk melodies for solo voice and
guitar, to arrangements for acoustic rock bands and other ensembles. Recent
formal music studies have expanded her composing abilities across genres and
earned her a masters degree in composition. For further details, visit her
website at www.fionatozer.com. CDs will
be on sale.
Ant Cawthorn-Blazeby was a member of
Landscape Prayers for nine years releasing four acclaimed albums. He has
freelanced since 2003, working with a number of different projects and artists,
playing all genres from folk and blues to rock and jazz. He has also worked as
concert master for the Durban City Orchestra and has performed with the KZNPO.
He is well-known for his performances with his band Celtis, playing traditional
and contemporary Irish music.
