The Witness Hilton Arts Festival 2013 is among the 25
diverse Arts Projects that received a BASA Supporting Grant. This cycle showed
an increase in demographics, genre and business sponsorship of the arts.
“Our long-running BASA Supporting Grant scheme was created
with the very specific goal of developing business sponsorship of the arts,”
explains BASA’s Carol Mokwena. “The applications must also make it clear how
the grants will add specific value to an already existing relationship between
an arts project and a business - or several businesses.”
The flexibility to make an application with multiple
partners is evident in the BASA Supporting Grant. The Witness Hilton Arts
Festival 2013 was awarded a supporting grant for their 21st Annual Festival.
The successful application was made by The Hilton Society with multiple sponsors
- Grindrod Bank Limited, The Witness, Spar KZN, Tops, SAB, Black Coffee cc and
SAPPI.
Individuals are also able to apply for BASA Supporting
Grants – provided they partner with a sponsor and have ring-fenced account for
the project. The request must centre around adding value to an already existing
relationship.
The next closing date is July 19, 2013. For application
