Hugh Grant (About a Boy, Four Weddings and a Funeral) plays – and hilariously
so – a washed-up ’80s pop star in the Wham! mould in this enjoyable rom-com. Still
riding on the coat-tails of his fading fame, he hopes to make a comeback by
writing a song for a young, rising star. However, he’s beset by paralysing
writer’s block.
When he realises that the woman who waters
his flowers (Drew Barrymore – The Wedding
Singer, 50 First Dates) has a flair for words, he enlists her talents to
help him pen the lyrics to a sure-fire hit song.
