(An Ni)
Traditional
Chinese Painting is a meditative art form, merging mind, breath, body and brush
with poetry, calligraphy and painting. After a visit last year to China, and a one-day
course in Traditional Chinese Painting in the Yunnan Province, Tracy Voss wanted
more. She rounded up fellow craft enthusiasts and artists to bring the
inspiring teacher, An Ni, to Durban for a series of workshops. All the
workshops were booked out, including the three-day course, an adult’s crash
course and the Children’s workshop.
An Ni is
a graduate of the Kunming University. She developed her skills in Traditional
Chinese Painting under the tutelage of XuJiande, a famous artist from the Yunnan
Province. Together she and XuJiande developed a series of distinctive paintings
popular in China and internationally.
Booking
is essential, as An Ni will bring the traditional Chinese brushes, rice paper,
Chinese ink and pigments. Course participants need to bring their passion and
willingness to let go and become one with the brush, the air and the poetry of
motion.
