Images of Africa is an exhibition by Holly Kavonic currently
running at Artisan Gallery.
Holly
grew up in Ballito and went to school at Danville Park Girls High School, where
she took art as a matric subject. She is now married and living in California
and is a career artist. She is visiting Durban to see her parents and friends
and exhibit at Artisan Gallery, thereby reuniting with her high school art
teacher Ingrid Smith.
Holly’s
oil paintings are so realistic they could be passed as photographs- a style
known as “hyperrealism”. Her portraits capture the beauty and nobility of the
human spirit which is evidence of Holly’s inspiration to capture a person’s
soul through their eyes and body language in a way that people can relate to
them. She hopes her work will build bridges between people of different
cultures.
