On November 16 at 18h30, BBC World News (DStv channel 400)
will screen The Culture Show: The Art of
Chinese Painting.
The ancient art of Chinese painting is one of the oldest
continuous artistic traditions in history. To coincide with a once-in-a-lifetime
exhibition at London's Victoria & Albert Museum - Masterpieces of Chinese Painting - Kate Bryan, Head of
Contemporary at The Fine Art Society and former Hong Kong resident, travels to
China to learn about the golden age of Chinese landscape painting; discover why
ink is still favoured over paint and how the country’s unique aesthetic was
heavily influenced by those age-old standards of class and politics.
