After a three-year break since her last
exhibition, Louise van Niekerk’s new exhibition The Other Side opens at Aladdin’s-de-Light in Nottingham Road
tomorrow (November 16).
The exhibition of new works will consist of
Raku, porcelain and ceramic sculpture.
To quote from Ben Temkin’s speech at the
opening of van Niekerk’s exhibition at the Tatham Gallery: “I have known and appreciated
her art for some five years. I have regularly been surprised and delighted with
her work. Louise has the talent to transform pots into
art.”
The
opening will coincide with a fundraiser for the SPCA. Pottery, mosaic and
quilting workshops will run alongside demonstrations of leatherwork and horse
shoe making by a farrier. A R50 donation to the SPCA gives patrons access to
the braai fires which will be lit at 12 noon and there will be salad, pap and
sauce tables.
Live
music by the legendary Steve Fataar as well as the young and talented Greg
Kentgens will add to the ambience. The Nottingham Brewing Company and The Wine
Cellar from Rosetta will be on hand to encourage everyone’s good spirits!
The
Other Side will
run until December 31. For more information contact Aladdins on 033 266 6460 or
