Bhoyi Ngema, the brother of Dr Mbongeni Ngema, died tragically
on Sunday night after being hit by a stolen vehicle in Inanda near Durban.
Bhoyi Ngema was one of the founder members of Committed Artists
and was widely respected in South Africa’s arts fraternity and abroad as a fine
actor. He toured extensively in many of Committed Artists’ productions. Among
these were Asinamali, Lion of the East,
Magic at 4am and Siyagiya 2012.
He also starred in the TV soap, Muvhango.
Bhoyi Ngema is survived by his son, Qiniso, and by his three
brothers, Johannes, Mbongeni and Nhlanhla, as well as his two sisters, Fikile
and Nokuthula.
A memorial service will be held in Durban’s Playhouse Drama
Theatre on December 27 at 14h00. (Details of Bhoyi Ngema’s funeral have yet to
be announced.)
