DHOOM: 3

Ster-Kinekor has announced the release of one of the biggest titles to come out of Bollywood in 2013. To coincide with the summer holiday break, Dhoom:3, the third film in the successful Dhoom franchise, hits the big screen at Ster-Kinekor Gateway in Durban in a splash of spectacular colour and a-thrill-a-minute action.

Says Fiaz Mahomed, CEO of Ster-Kinekor Theatres: “We are delighted that we are now able to offer Bollywood films at more of our cinemas, as they continue to be an important focus for us. This is as a direct result of the digital conversion across all our sites that enables us to access more prints and screen these in more of our cinemas. With the digital roll-out now complete, the timing is perfect to do justice to a huge Bollywood blockbuster such as Dhoom:3. Bollywood films are larger than life in their storylines and production, and deserve the larger than life cinema experience.”

From producer Aditya Chopra and director Vijay Krishna Acharya, and starring Aamir Khan, Dhoom:3 is the next instalment in one of the most famous franchises in box office history. Also starring Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra and Katrina Kaif, the film tells the story of the adventures of Jai Dixit, a no-nonsense cop, and his scatterbrained partner, Ali.

Once again, the film will introduce a new modus operandi as it follows the path of police inspector Jai Dixit (Abhishek Bachchan) and his sidekick, Ali (Uday Chopra), in their characteristic fight against crime. They come up against the charismatic and versatile Sahir (Aamir Khan), in his first role as the anti-hero, as Dhoom:3 revs into hyper drive.

Many of the actors were put through their paces as they had to learn a number of new skills for their roles in the film: Aamir Khan practiced ballet, diving, aerobatics and parkour (a holistic training discipline), while Katrina Kaif was a student of paragliding and singing. This blockbuster movie was filmed in Switzerland, Chicago and Mumbai.

The success of Dhoom and Dhoom:2 have established this as Bollywood’s pre-eminent franchise. Cited as one of the most expensive Bollywood movies ever to have been produced, and with its stellar cast, the third film in the franchise aims to set a new benchmark amongst action films.
