The
following is a tribute to the late Clinton de Menezes from friend and
colleague, John Roome:
Clinton was a wonderful human being. As an
artist he was always very committed to his work. He had a strong vision which
he expressed in a wide range of media. He was experimental and pushed the
boundaries of expression.
Clinton had something important to say. He
worked very hard at his career and he was beginning to establish himself
internationally. His untimely death has robbed us all of the rich possibilities
that were still to come. But we have his legacy to remember him by. I am sure
that all of us at the Fine Art Department (Technikon Natal) who taught and knew
Clinton will miss him deeply and mourn the untimely loss of this bright light
in the art world. – John Roome
