“If you thought Valentine would be a drag, do not miss
this Valentine show” is the advice from The Family Players who present their next
offering from at Rhumbelow Theatre this coming weekend.
The inimitable group of Allan Quihampton, Derek
Pearce, Greg Baptie and Roland Stansell will be joined by Statik (Selwyn
Rautenbach & Clinton Green)
“Stupid Cupid Quihampton
is a comical lip-sync drag show that looks at the ups and downs of love. It is
every “girl”s dream to have a hot date for Valentine and WOW did the girls find
their date alright,” the group explains. “Our little Hiphop Valentine Is going
to be a night you will not forget – with the hottest troupe in town.
“Why a Hiphop Valentine?” they explain. “Hiphop love
is not for the weak and insecure. It celebrates desire, bliss and the high of
new beginnings, the lows of rejection, betrayal and loss as well as the promise
and joy of true commitment. Any Comedy Drag Queen who lets their flow turn to
love must wrestle with maintaining their persona as an artist – we are usually
hard, real, and explicit about what we see, feel and think. This is not for the die hard romantic who thinks all relationships
come up smelling of roses.”
If you thought you knew all that you needed to know
about life, love, valentine, marriage and relationships, just wait for Ruby
Wacked, Alexa, Burley Chassis and Cut Glass Cathy to show you their side of life,
love, valentine, marriage and relationship as they tussle their love with the
STATIK boys.
Stupid Cupid will
have performances on Friday and Saturday (February 14 and 15) at 20h00 with two
shows on Sunday (February 16) at 14h00 and 18h30. The
venue opens 90 minutes before show for picnic dinner.
