(Lisa
Bobbert, Liesl Coppin and Marion Loudon)
The
Glitter Girls, the smash hit show starring Lisa
Bobbert, Marion Loudon and Liesl Coppin, has been playing at The Heritage Theatre
in Hillcrest with a few more performances to go.
Three of Durban’s most loved and versatile
performers, Bobbert, Coppin and Loudon make up a formidable femme de force who have
audiences eating out of the palms of their manicured hands. All three are
natural comics and keep audiences in stitches with their irrepressible performances.
Absolute charmers, all three are previous
recipients of the coveted Mercury Durban Theatre Personality of the Year Award.
Their musical comedy is light hearted and very entertaining – you don't have to
be an 80’s child to enjoy this show.
The
Glitter Girls hinges around a 20-year school
reunion of the Skolliesville High matric class of 1989. With songs from the 80s
right up to today and hits from Bananarama, Eurythmics, Rihanna, Gloria
Estephan and Abba, witness the Glitter Girls re-live their greatest triumphs,
trials and heartbreaks.
The highlight of the show is when they gender-bend
into their alter-egos – Kenny de la Mer, Ruben Lipshitz and John Smith. These
“dudes” are underscored by the unmistakable backbeat of Duran Duran, Rick
Ashley, Bruno Mars and Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines, to name but a few.
The
Glitter Girls perform at the Heritage Theatre in
Hillcrest until March 30. Tickets R185 Tuesday and Sunday (R215 Wednesdays to
Saturdays) include a two-course meal (R130 show only). Bookings through the
Heritage Theatre on 031 765 4197 or www.ticket.co.za
