Multi-award
winning Durban Theatre Company, KickstArt, held auditions recently for the
ensemble roles in their production of Sweeney
Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street to be staged at the Elizabeth
Sneddon Theatre in August.
After a
gruelling day of singing, Haydn Henning, a grade 11 learner at Durban High
School, was selected as the bass singer for the ensemble. The music and lyrics,
written by Stephen Sondheim, are not easy and the singing thereof is even more
challenging, thus all credit must go to Henning for being selected over 25
hopefuls.
This is
a big achievement for him as it will mark his professional debut in Musical
Theatre.
