Kala
Darshan – Institute of classical music and dance will present Taal Saundariya – a solo kathak
performance by Guru Shri Manesh Maharaj on March 15 at the Pattundeen Theatre.
Taal Saundariya explores the beauty of rhythm through
various talas (rhythmic time cycles) set to traditional compositions. Steeped
in divinity, the performance aims to transport the audience from the material
into the spiritual through the medium of dance.
Live
music accompaniment will be provided by the senior music students of Kala
Darshan. Tabla – Revash Dookhi, Ketan Sarjuprosad & Akshay Bensarie. Padhant
& Manjira – Ishka Nanoo. Vocal & Harmonium – Niveshan Munsamy.
Coinciding
with the performance is a Kathak DVD launch by Manesh Maharaj. This will be the
first DVD of a complete solo Kathak performance to be released in South Africa
by a South African artist. The DVD aims to serve as a medium for students,
artists & audiences to learn, understand and appreciate the great art-form
of Kathak on a new level.
Taal
Saundariya promises to captivate and enthral a diverse audience with its rich
music score, vibrant choreography & spiritual theme.

performance will take place at 18h00 on March 15 at the Pattundeen Theatre.(ABH
