The Unveiling of Lewis Nkosi’s Monument Stele in Stellawood this afternoon.

One of the Drum writers of the 50's and an internationally award-winning South African journalist, essayist, novelist and dramatist Lewis Nkosi passed away in 2010 and is buried in Stellawood Cemetery.  He was in exile in Africa and Europe and returned to South Africa in 1991.

His production, The Black Psychiatrist, was staged by the Durban University of Technology ( DUT) in Durban last year featuring Liesl Coppin and Ntando Mncube, directed by Debbie Lutge.

Lewis Nkosi’s widow, Professor Astrid Starck-Adler, will travel from France to attend the unveiling of the Stele on Saturday.

The Stele has been made by Durban sculptor Andries Botha.

The Unveiling of Lewis' Stele will take place this afternoon (Saturday, April 26) at 13h00 at Stellawood Cemetery. The grave is located on Terrace T 56. At the main entrance, in front of the cemetery office, somebody will be on hand to help direct visitors to the place.
