(Peter G)

The voice of much-loved radio personality Peter G will be drifting across brand new airwaves with the launch of his online radio station, DurbanZone Online Radio.

Durban has a new station hitting the airwaves with the launching of a fantastic addition, an online radio station, DurbanZone Online Radio that caters for everyone and everything.

The station runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and officially went live in March. The team headed up by Peter G, who recently resigned from a local mainstream radio station, is joined by another familiar radio personality, Ravi R.

The duo is the creators of the leading website, DurbanZone Online Magazine. DurbanZone has been promoting Durban events since June 2010 and promotes everything from Durban’s theatre productions to the biggest (and smallest) local events. School news and general lifestyle articles also find a home on the website, not to mention wedding planning, DIY, fashion and movie reviews.

“I have loved radio since primary school, and believe me that has been a long time,” says Peter G who was responsible for South Africa’s first and second hospital radio stations as well as uShaka Radio which operated for the first three years of uShaka Marine World’s existence.

The natural progression adding the online radio station was only a matter of time for the hard-working and vibrant DJ, “I love the inner workings of radio and owning an online station allows for our creativity to flow, musically and from a content point of view. We have some exciting plans for DurbanZone Online Radio which will be revealed in the weeks to come,” says Peter G.

“Online radio, in my opinion, is the future of radio in South Africa,” revealed Ravi R. ”Its popularity has grown in many other parts of the world and with more and more South Africans owning smart phones or tablets and having access to the internet; the future of radio is without a doubt online. DurbanZone Online Radio will become the home of some familiar voices in the weeks and months to come but at the same time provide the platform to empower and groom up and coming radio personalities
