The forthcoming recital from the Friends of
Music on Tuesday (May 27) was due to feature Duo Olite but they have had to
withdraw because of illness. In their place, Friends of Music have acquired a
performance by soprano Vanessa Tait-Jones.
Vanessa Tait-Jones was crowned the overall
winner of a new classical singing competition the ATKV-Muziqanto. She is involved with the inter-disciplinary
voice clinic at Tygerberg to assist singers with voice problems.
Her programme includes songs by Purcell,
Handel, Schubert, R Strauss, Obradors, Dvořák, Gounod, Puccini, Lehár and J
Strauss. She will be accompanied on the piano by Liezl-Maret Jacobs.
Appearing in the Prelude Performers slot made
possible by the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund will be Ellen
Pretorius and Rebecca Lee who will sing works by Stolz, Mozart and a duet by
Delibes.
The recital will take place on May 27 at
19h45. Tickets R70 (R60 FOM members and R20 Orchestral / Students) Booking is
at Computicket. Friends of Music concerts take place at 19h45 at the Durban
Jewish Centre, 44 Old Fort Road (K.E. Masinga Road), Durban. There is safe
