NOT THE GRAHAMSTOWN FESTIVAL

Thousands of flyers have been handed out and ticket sales are picking up fast for the Not the Grahamstown Festival at Catalina Theatre.

Durbanites are invited to preview some of the local shows travelling to Grahamstown for the upcoming National Arts Festival. Durban offers up many a selection of theatrical gems which hope to add to this celebration of arts and culture. The funds raised will help with some of the costs that artists endure in order to have their works travel the long distance to Grahamstown.

SHE PUT THE I IN PUNCH LINE
Presented by ScruffySession Productions, this is a one woman show, written by one woman who probes her identity as a South African Indian girl. In an awkward account of personal history within political history within prehistoric...uh...history. The piece unravels in an existential frame; questioning ideas of gender, culture and racial identity. The show is written from a personal point of view that hopes to make others laugh, relate and think. (June 20 at 19h00, June 21 at 16h00)

It incorporates live vocals, African inspired Contemporary dance, storytelling and poetry, side-splitting comedy, elaborate costumes, with riveting twists to keep you on the edge of your seat and stitches. A forgotten Prince, his mother the Queen murdered, presumed dead, drowned in the murky River of Tembisa, returns home to avenge his mother’s death and claim his rightful place as the heir to Land of Akwaba.
