DEAF MIME ARTIST PERFORMS AT USHAKA

 (Sibo Masondo)

Sibo Masondo (aka Le Mot) local Durban mime artist will perform for the holiday crowds at uShaka Marine World’s popular Dolphin Show. Visitors will see Sibo before they catch the resident dolphins Gambit, Frodo, Affrika, Tombi, Khanya, Zulu, Kepie, Jula, Khwezi, Ingelosi and Khetiwe performing in the completely revamped dolphin stadium. This venue now boasts a state of the art, larger than life screen which is not only bigger than the previous screen, but the ultra high resolution brings the dolphins up so close you can see the water droplets sparkling on their bodies.

Sibo, who is excited to perform in the dolphin stadium, graduated from Fulton School for the Deaf at the end of 2013, was determined to follow his passion for drama and art. Mentored by well-known theatre veteran Gisele Turner, he has been developing his repertoire in a number of non-verbal creative fields, with a specific accent on French Mime.

Sibo is currently involved with the ASSITEJ Theatre4Youth programme, working with the Lashona Community Theatre group and he is also rehearsing an eco comedy for kids titled Einie Meanie Greenie Grow!

He recently wowed patrons at a Mondays @ St Clements soiree and demonstrated his skills in Mask and Mime Workshop for the Second Year students at AFDA. He also enjoyed being part of the street theatre group that entertained the crowds at the Land, Sea and Air Show.

Sibo’s goal is to be able to earn his living through his art. Performing at uShaka Marine World takes him several steps forward in achieving his dream. You can catch Sibo performing his Classic French Mime routines and improvised audience interactions on July 12, 13, 19, 20.
