ORGAN SOUNDS

Wim Mutsaerts had been running the valuable MusicMap email promotion for several years but suffered a stroke towards the end of 2013 from which he is slowly recovering. In May, he handed www.musicmap.org.za over to well-known trumpeter Stephanie Pais who was one of 12 applicants to take over the reins.

“Since then Stephanie runs MusicMap with professionalism and maturity,” says Mutsaerts. However, he has retained his focus on organ music although he hasn’t been able to attend an organ recital since his stroke.

“My love for organ sound is without doubt,” he explains. “I issued MusicMap by circulating Organ Music in South Africa, by email. Stephanie kindly reserved a special space, Wim’s Corner, to continue sharing my love for organ music with my audience. Having neither technical knowledge of organs nor of its music, I depend on the Internet and my arsenal on organists, for interesting articles to publish.

“I would therefore appreciate any help in promoting the Pipe Organ and its Sound, especially amongst the Youth, who are bereaved of its sound and often hang onto the commonest of music instruments: the guitar,” he adds

Should any organist be performing recitals or concerts or have any other organ-related information, Mutsaerts would welcome this to include in Wim’s Corner on MusicMap.
