In an open letter to
artSMart, artist Andrew Verster comments on the new mural at the KZNSA Gallery
in Glenwood.
“It is right and appropriate that Durban's home to the arts,
the KZNSA gallery, should lead the city in public art with its recently
completed new mural.
It is witty and beautiful and a joy for the eyes.
The architects of this award winning architectural gem, Cindy
Walters and Michelle Cohen will, I am certain, be thrilled with this colourful
and witty addition to their building - though they will have to enjoy it in
photographs as they are now based in London. It will, hopefully encourage
others with bare walls to follow their example.
How good if Durban could lead the country in this field of
public art. This is a brilliant start.”
