(Gary McKenzie, John
Didlick & Grant Bell)
Last month saw the launch of Tina’s Hotel as a semi-permanent
supper theatre venue for the Highway area, following the closure of The
Heritage Theatre. After a very successful month, Gary McKenzie, In conjunction
with Tina’s hotel management have ironed out the “teething problems” and are
pleased to announce that they will be staging shows from this weekend at least
until the up-coming festive season, “and hopefully beyond”, says McKenzie.
This weekend sees the staging of the irrepressible Gee Jays,
as they present their “most hilarious” show to date entitled, Boep Idles. The show is described as an
absolute slap in the face for the TV reality show Pop Idols, and one definitely not for the feint-hearted.
“We ask the question – what happened to those stars of
yesteryear? The ones who made the big time in the 60’s and 70’s? Have they now
got boeps of their own? I’ll tell you what happened. They’re sitting at home
with a beer watching all these wannabe Pop
Idols”.
There’s no Gareth Gates or Will Young here. This show
features songs from the real Idols of yesteryear, who put in the hard yards. No
instant stardom here. We’re talking guys like Cliff Richard, The Beatles, Elvis
Presley, Roy Orbison, Billy Joel, Tom Jones and many more.
The show is guaranteed to have you stamping your feet,
clapping your hands, rolling in the aisles and singing along – all at the same
time! You have been advised to “bring your open mind and your laughing tackle.”
The show runs from September 11 to 14 and is presented in
“supper theatre” format.
Supper, in the form of a limited a la carte menu, will be
served from 19h00. The show starts at 20h30 on Friday and Saturday and on
Sunday, lunch (carvery lunch) is from 12h30 with the show starting at 14h00. Tickets R185 pp for the meal and show. Show
only option available at R120pp (no meal included). Bookings can be made on 031
764 7843.
