Highway Hospice has started its appeals for their "big
bash" Christmas Fete (it sounds crazy to be talking about Christmas
already!). The aim is to make it a "hand made with love" fete and Hospice
appeals to the community for help in a number of creative ways:
Sewing: Hospice will supply fabric if you can make cushion
covers, aprons, bags, cell phone bags, peg bags, or anything else you can think
of.
Christmas decorations: The aim is to have a stall filled
with loads of lovingly-made Christmas decorations.
Knitting and Crochet: Hospice can supply the wool if you
have a talent for making stuffed toys, baby clothes, scarves, and anything else
you can think of!
Baking: Talented people who can make Christmas Cakes and
Christmas Puddings - again Hospice can help with ingredients. They will also
need bakers closer to the day for fresh baked goods.
Sweet makers: If you can find the time to make some sweets
for our sweet stall that would be wonderful - fudges, candies, and anything
else you can think of.
Pickles and Jams: Wouldn't it be lovely to have some home-made
jams and pickles to sell. There is nothing nicer than home-made!
Plants: Green fingers? We need some herbs and pot plants to
liven the place up. If you have any old pots at home we need those, too!
Clothing: There will be a second-hand sale the Saturday
before the Christmas sale - any donations of shoes, bags, clothing, belts etc
would be welcome. If you are dropping off, please mark clearly FETE. If you
need Hospice to collect they will be happy to do so.
White Elephant and Pandora Stalls: Now’s your chance to clear out things that don’t fit
your lifestyle but that may be useful or interesting to other people.
Dropping off venue is Highway Hospice, 59 Locksley Drive, Sherwood.
Collections: Phone Cheryl or Cathyon 031 208 6110.
“We are appealing to the community to get involved,” says
Hospice. “We cannot do the work we do without you!”
