KwaZulu-Natal’s independent annual music business conference
held in Durban will be hosted on the last weekend of August, from (August 27 to
29) in 2015.
Sphe Mbhele (project manager) announced the dates at a panel
discussion in CMJ Music Marathon 2014 (New York). "We are opening our
programme and looking to collaborate with other interested individuals and
organizations" he said.
Sphe Mbhele was attending the CMJ Music Marathon, an annual
event where selected bands and artists play at various clubs throughout
Manhattan and Brooklyn. The event was introduced in 1980, with only a few
venues around NYC as a way for industry professionals to discover new breaking
artists in the college radio world.
On the other hand, the six-year-old KZN Music Imbizo
collects various music industry stakeholders under one roof to map the way
forward for the KwaZulu-Natal Music industry. It is a platform to exhibit,
showcase, network, share expertise and knowledge.
This year, the event had some of the most influential South
African music industry individuals and organization, 18 showcasing musicians,
15 exhibitors plus a number of music related films. 2015 promises to be packed
with more relevant information and practical ways to make things happen within
the music industry.
