The Durban Art Gallery, as part of its mandate to add its
weight to help educate, empower and develop the visual arts community in KZN, will
host a series of free workshops for the creative industries in and around
greater Durban.
“We would like to invite interested visual artists to
participate in a series of creative professional practice workshops scheduled
in six different Durban venues. This would be especially useful for artists
entering into the profession,” says DAG education officer, Witty Nyide.
The brief reads:

enhance their professional practice skills, including: defining a strategy
related to your individual career plan; artists’ portfolio of work online and
off; networking; helpful online resources; marketing yourself/brand and knowing
your value; galleries & agent; funding; writing funding proposals &
where to find these funds; residencies, projects, collaborations; gaining the
relevant experience; how to price and where to sell your work; how to establish
yourself as a professional artist and time management, studio, submission
deadlines and meetings.”
