B.I.G. is a new improv troupe of talented, professional
actors, coached by Bev Cooke-Tonnesen. This December marks the launch of this
new force in Durban theatre, with our Down
the Chimney and Round the Bend shows. B.I.G. will be performing monthly

Bev Cooke-Tonnesen runs the popular and life-changing Gift
of the GAB adult acting courses in Durban and Johannesburg. Hundreds of
Durbanites have already enjoyed the hilarity and entertainment of her Gift of
the GAB performances, as for the past three years some of the courses have
ended with a public performance.
This December, Bev is taking things up a few notches as she
launches her B.I.G. troupe. This is a versatile group of professional actors
who are not afraid to take risks and be spontaneous. B.I.G.’s improv style is
characterised by fast-paced physical theatre, bold characterisation and a
continual striving to create “theatrical” scenes and moments of genius, out of
suggestions provided by the audience. Of course, being improv, there are tons
of laughs and a lot of hilarity.
Moving into 2015, B.I.G. will be creating and performing new
and innovative long-form improv show, as well as the wildly funny short-form
“improv games” that you will enjoy in “Down
the Chimney and Round the Bend”.
Performances take place at the Westville Theatre Club on:
December 23 at 19h30, featuring one act. BYO drinks and picnic
supper. Tickets R60 (R40 for under 12’s)
New Year’s Eve on December 31 at 22h00, featuring two acts
followed by dancing the new year in! BYO drinks and late supper (or eat before
and just bring drinks). Tickets R100 (includes show, dancing, some bubbly and a
few surprises!)
