Arts Interactive is an interactive group/gathering in Durban
of those interested in the betterment of the Visual Arts.
Their next monthly meeting features guest speaker Carl
Roberts. Well-known as a thoroughly engaging speaker and world-renowned
sculptor, he will be talking on any topic that takes his fancy from his life as
an artist, his views, news or ideas.
"Looking back, art was an obvious choice, as I have
always made things,” says Roberts. “As a child I made clay pots from mud in the
yard, cars from cardboard, and dragons from paper-maché. I enjoyed attending
Elaine Savages’ art lessons during my school holidays. As an adult my interest
in art continued. I carved leather goods in the Fire Department, wooden
bookshelves in Phalaborwa and painted fantasy landscapes whilst a truck driver.
In 1995 I became a full time artist, and that is where I am today."
Arts Interactive takes place on March 11 at 18h00 for 18h30
