BESPOKE

(Stuart Taylor)

From the comedy clubs of New York City and performances across Europe, to his award-winning, sold-out shows at home in South Africa, Stuart Taylor’s interrogation of the human condition has always earned him critical acclaim. BeSpoke takes his trade-mark conversational style to new heights. “This is a back to basics comedy show inspired by my comedy club roots,” says Stuart Taylor. “It’s a no-holds-barred, unapologetic stand-up comedy experience.”

With BeSpoke, the Cape Town’s star entertainer’s unprecedented ninth one-man show, Taylor also explores the concept of labels, the importance we place on them, how we label each other and what they might mean to his two young sons when they are old enough – all shared in his inimitable, hilarious style. So give the tummy muscles a serious work out! With Stuart Taylor’s BeSpoke, it promises a great night out.

Taylor is one of South Africa’s most loved comedians and has kept audiences laughing with his shows such as Techni-Coloured (winner of Overall Best Comedy award at the 2008 National Arts Festival); Money’s Too Tight to Mention and Learner Husband, with which he also launched a book. He is also a popular TV presenter, having survived numerous near-death experiences in four seasons of Going Nowhere Slowly. He is a three time winner of South Africa’s Comedy Magic Champion and has cast his spell to mesmerise audiences from theatres and comedy clubs to boardrooms across the country.

He has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the Berlin International Comedy Festival and in December 2013 at the Switzerland International Comedy Festival. He is delighted to be back at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre with his first new solo stand-up comedy show in three years.

BeSpoke runs at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre from April 13 to 26 with performances from Tuesdays to Saturdays at 19h30. Tickets R120 (discounts available for students & block bookings)
