(Fiona Tozer)
On April 28, the Maritzburg Musician's Club will combine old
familiar faces with a musical legend in her own right - Fiona Tozer! Joining
her on the night will be former Deja-Vu's Dave Rossouw's fresh up-and-coming
local band - Kodiak.
Singer-songwriter and guitarist Fiona Tozer started playing
music and writing songs while still a teenager, influenced by the acoustic
music and folk revival of the 70s, and particularly the music of Joni Mitchell.
She went on to travel widely, developing her songwriting skills and absorbing
styles from her environment.
Since coming to South Africa, she has played at folk music
venues and festivals around the country and was a founder of the Durban Folk
Club in 1986. Her songs, in contemporary folk and acoustic rock style, have
been released on the albums to date; Odyssey
(with the band Bona Fide), Neverland, Light
and Sound, and recently released Somewhere
Else. Venturing into other genres of music, she studied music at the
University of KwaZulu-Natal, completing a Masters degree in composition in
2008.
She is currently working with an experimental group called
Quark, blurring the boundaries of mixed genres of music, and with a new album
in the pipeline. For more information visit www.fionatozer.com

an album this year with some originals they have been working on.

Door. Entrance R40. The home of the Maritzburg Musicians Club, The Red Door is
