The next Friends of Music recital takes place on May 5 and
features Joanna Frankel (violin) and Liezl-Marét Jacobs (piano) in a programme that
will include works by Gershwin, Ravel, Ginastera, Elgar, Mozart and Sarasate.
Frankel is the Concert Master of the KZN Philharmonic
Orchestra, having been appointed in 2013, and garners worldwide acclaim for her
technical prowess.
Jacobs is recognized as one of South Africa’s leading
accompanists. In 2008 she was invited to present master classes, lectures and
chamber music concerts at the University of Charlotte in North Carolina, USA.
The Prelude Performer for the evening will be Sethu Goduka who
is a Grade 11 student at Maris Stella. She received gold medals for every item at
the Ethekwini Vocal Festival 2014. She will perform An Sylvia by Franz Schubert; O
Mio Babbino Caro by Giacomo Puccini and I
Dreamed a Dream from Les Misérables.
The recital takes place at 19h30 on May 5 at the Durban
Jewish Centre, 44 Old Fort (K.E. Masinga) Road, Durban. Tickets R70 (R60 FOM members
