Nu Metro brings
opera to the big screen at the Pavilion Shopping Centre with La Traviata a film version of Guiseppe
Verdi’s famous opera produced by the English National Opera and directed by
Peter Konwitschny.
The opera is based on La
Dame aux Camélias by Alexander Dumas and outlines the story of Violetta,
the high-flying but fragile courtesan forced into surrendering all hope of
personal happiness in order to protect her lover’s reputation. It’s a moving
tale of society and morality and makes for one of the most emotionally engaging
and popular operas of all time.
The cast features Elizabeth Zharoff, Ben Johnson, Anthony
Michaels-Moor, Clare Presland, Paul Hopwood, Matthew Hargreaves, Charles
Johnston, Martin Lamb and Valerie Ried.
