(Nicholis Louw)
Platinum selling
Afrikaans artist, Nicholis Louw, promises to Rock Daai Lyfie when he performs at The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway
for the first time on May 16.
Being a multifaceted
artist, his repertoire includes rock, pop and ballades, often incorporating
strong classical elements. Nicholis decided to pursue a career in music at the
age of 14 and, 22 years later, has managed to establish himself as one of South
Africa’s most successful solo artists.
His big break came
in 1999 when he was studying music and entered a talent search competition with
a friend, Johann du Toit, where Kurt Darren spotted their talent and introduced
them to players in the music industry. The duo, known as Canterὸ, released an
album called Sonder Jou.
His shows are
lively events where the audiences usually sing and dance to every word of every
song, and Louw averages 120 performances a year. Barnyard audiences can expect
to hear material off his recently launched album, Sό Rock Ons Die Wêreld Reg; as well as his hits which include Rock Daai Lyfie; Vergeet En Vergewe; Ek Wil
My Baby Hê Vanaand; Bly By My, Energie; Baby, Baby, Baby; and Generaal.
