The next Friends of
Music recital takes place tomorrow (June 23) and will feature the Lonestar
Classical Voices Quartet.
This is a group of
US based South African, American and Korean University Professors who are
active performers. Their goal is to develop long –term collaborations among classical
musicians in South Africa and among classical musicians in South Africa and the
United States.
The group includes soprano
Bronwen Forbay (SA / USA); mezzo-soprano Jamie van Eyck (USA); tenor Randall
Umstead (USA) and baritone Christian Bester (SA / USA) with Kaju Lee (USA) on
the piano.
The programme will
include works by Strauss II (1825-1899); Schumann (1810-1856); Brahms
(1833-1897); Lehár (1870-1948); Brahms (1833-1897); Lehár (1870-1948), and
Strauss II (1825-1899).
In the Prelude
Performer slot, launched by The National LoTtery Distribution Trust Fund will be Bogomil
Hadjiev . A young violinist under the direction of Todor Hadjiev, he started playing
the violin at the age of seven. In 2014 he passed grade 5 ABRSM Violin exam
with distinction. He has performed at
numerous school functions and SASMT concert. His programme will include Meditation by J.Massenet and Rondino by P. Hadjiev. His accompanist
will be Dana Hadjiev.
The recital takes
place on June 23 at 19h30 at the Durban Jewish Centre, 44 K E Masinga (Old
Fort) Road, Durban... Tickets R70 (R60 FOM members and R20 orchestral and
