(Marvin Nethononda)
Bonfire Hearts - a moving tribute to acoustic, unplugged
and Celtic rock - takes to The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway’s stage from July 21
to August 23.
It promises a
spectacular show of beauty, power, emotion, rhythm and harmony. The talented
10-piece cast of musicians and singers represent some of the greatest sounds
and voices, starting with evergreen hits from the 60’s and 70’s from the likes
of The Eagles, Simon & Garfunkel, Neil Diamond and Johnny Cash. Audiences
can expect to sing along to modern day acoustic legends such as Mumford &
Son, The Lumineers, James Blunt, Bruno Mars, Avicci, American Authors; and South
Africa’s own home grown acoustic music from artists such as Johnny Clegg and
Mathew Mole. Women in acoustic rock are also featured with tributes to Sheryl
Crow, Eva Cassidy, Carol King, and Taylor Swift.
Bonfire Hearts features all-time classics such as Hotel California, Sweet Home Alabama, Sweet
Caroline and The Devil Went To
Georgia. The show introduces lesser-known instruments such as the banjo,
the mandolin and the fiddle, in addition to the piano, and acoustic and
electric guitars. Instrumental highlights include the all-time audience favourites
Duelling Banjos and The Lord of the Dance.
From the beauty of Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen, to the
heart rendering Story of My Life by
One Direction, Bonfire Hearts offers
musical quality; a show of beauty, power, emotion, rhythm, harmony; and mostly
a show featuring music that is everlasting and will appeal to audiences of all
ages.
