"Gender Issues are a dominant them in South African
politics and so too in the daily lives of women. Although admirable, it does
place even more pressure on ordinary women to excel in an increasingly
demanding environment. Stereotypes of how women should look, behave and
possibly think cause these individual characteristics and quirks to be
suppressed, hidden or to even cause embarrassment,” says Esterhuysen.
As a part of the celebration of August as Women's Month as
well as a fundraiser for CANSA, Artisan Gallery will exhibit these stunning
photos, as well as the limited edition book from August 24 to 29.
The opening event takes place today (Sunday, August 23) from
14h30 to 17h00 with all proceeds from the sale of these photographs and books
going directly to CANSA SA. There will also be a lucky draw for one signed Africa Uncovered print.
