Angelina Jolie won wide acclaim for her depiction of Lara
Croft, a character created for a video game series, and boosted the film to
become the top-grossing action movie with a woman in the lead role.
The story deals with a doomsday cult which is desperate
to find two components of a secret device that can endow them with unlimited
power – but only during a rare planetary alignment. The fearless Lara Croft
will have none of this, and sets out to thwart them with her fighting skills,
knowledge of archaeology, and guile.
